Township of Langley, BC (Monday, November 24, 2014) – The Langley Rivermen are pleased to announce forward Colton Kehler has earned an NCAA Division I scholarship to Clarkson University.

The 17 year old from Port Coquitlam, BC is in his second season in the BCHL and has 6 points in 21 games this season.

“Colton is a great young player who continues to get better each game,” said Head Coach and General Manager Bobby Henderson. “He’s going to a school that’s well respected and we couldn’t be happier for him.”

Kehler spent last season with the Cowichan Valley Capitals, scoring 21 points in 43 games. He holds the BC Major Midget League record for goals in a season. Kehler scored 41 goals in 40 games for the Vancouver North East Chiefs in 2012, surpassing Edmonton Oilers’ Ryan Nugent-Hopkins mark of 40.

Clarkson University, a private research university in Potsdam, New York enrols over 37-hundred students. The team plays in the ECAC Hockey conference. Notable names to graduate from Clarkson include former NHL players and Stanley Cup champions Willie Mitchell, Erik Cole and Todd Marchant.

The Rivermen would like to congratulate Kehler on this major accomplishment and wish him best of luck at Clarkson University.
