  • Clarkson Women 2015-2016

Time for the women to have a thread for the new season. While awaiting the schedule to be posted gonna start things off with an article on USCHO about the new National Womens Hockey League (NWHL). On June 20th is the amateur draft. This article does a mock draft of the players that may be drafted. It features 3 Clarkson players:

Erin Ambrose, the first Defenseman chosen in Round 2
Shannon MacAulay taken in Round 3
Renata Fast taken in Round 4.

Womens hockey schedule is in the sports calendar with a couple of omissions

Open the season Sept 26 with an exhibition against McGill U

      Out of Conference games
      SLU and @SLU
      @UVM and UVM
      2 @BU
      2 UNH Home
      2 UCONN Home

There should be 2 more that I could not find in the calendar.
My guess would be a home and home with Syracuse.

Christmas break is last games Dec 3-4 and then back on the ice Jan 8-9.

Also the Calendar is missing the Brown game on Feb 19th.

Hope the weather is good Feb 12th when they are at Prinny for a 7PM game.
My wife and I hope to be there.

        The schedule is out: http://www.clarksonathletics.com/sch...px?path=whock&

Feast your eyes on the weekend of October 16/17
        Women @ BU 7pm & 3pm
Men @ Merrimack @ UNH 7 pm both nights

        Friday:
Men @ Merrimack OR women @ BU
        Saturday
women @ BU (should be over by 5) and Men @ UNH 7pm.

Google maps says 1:40 between Walter Brown and UNH. Figure we'd/you'd be a bit late for the start of the men's game, but it's doable.

Am I the only one who thinks that this non-conference schedule is a tad weak? Outside of Boston University and St. Lawrence, the other four teams they play come from what often seem like the weakest areas in women's hockey: the CHA and the bottom 5 teams of Hockey East. Not that the team did particularly well in its stronger non-conference schedule last year (6–5–1), but I still think that this non-conference schedule is more likely to harm the team than be beneficial. Just my two cents.

As I am new to letsgotech.com, I do not know if this is a thing people ever do here, but I was wondering if anybody had any predictions for how they imagine the women's ECAC will finish this year. I have some ideas myself, but I was wondering if anybody else did.

Welcome to the board. Yes, the non-conf schedule is weaker than in previous years but none the less it is what it is. What certainly is going to be required is for the women to win these games to help get them into the top 8 nationally. A 6-5-1 non-conf record is not gonna cut it this year. While I would love to see 12-0-0, I would suppose a 9-2-1 or 10-2-0 or 10-1-1 non conf record is realistic. I would be pleased with any of these results. More from me later on the ECAC.

IMHO Clarkson is the team to beat in the ECAC for the Regular Season Title and I only pray that first elusive ECAC Championship. If the injury bug does not get to the team and the Freshmen are as good as I think they are then I think they can do this. I am going to put a number of stats on this thread to support my claim over the next few months. First Stat, based on what was lost to graduation, only Princeton graduated less goal scoring than Clarkson. Cornell with the graduation of Jenner, Fulton and Saulnier lost the most scoring from the 2014-2015 season

                Cornell 3 51.9 56 87 143 49.0
                Harvard 7 32.1 42 87 129 39.3

                Princeton 4 10.8 8 27 35 17.5
From a returning goal scoring standpoint Clarkson is on top.

                  Brown 17 46.6 27 44 71 49.0
Oddly enough, the table which ranks the teams based on percentage of goals returning is very similar to the basic rankings I had in my head for how the overall standings will finish this year, except that I expect Cornell to be higher and Yale to be lower. My guess right now is:

                  1. Clarkson
                  2. Harvard
                  3. SLU
                  4. Princeton
                  5. Qunnipiac
                  6. Cornell
                  7. Yale
                  8. Dartmouth
                  9. Colgate
                  10. RPI
                  11. Union
                  12. Brown

As for winning the ECAC championship, we just have to hope Cornell does not show up in Potsdam come early March.

Canada's summer development camp starts on August 11 in Calgary and quite a few current Golden Knights are there.

I like the Gold team's goaltenders.

Here's the release from Clarkson on the development camp.

Apparently, in addition to the the one former Golden Knight and the five current Golden Knights attending the camp, we also have two incoming freshmen going as well.
