  • What a great game despite the result and I couldn't have been more proud to be wearing the green and gold at Whittemore. The CCT crowd may just have outnumbered the BC crowd. If not, we were definitely more into the game. When it was all said and done, our fans gave the players from both teams a standing ovation and remained cheering until the last Golden Knight left the ice.

The fateful goal was trouble from the start. I thought BC was going to get a quick quality chance as our defensemen were on their heels coming into the zone and backing in, something they didn't do all night. They managed to avoid the initial opportunity but never got back to their assignments and the puck ended up behind Tiley.

Thanks to the seniors and the entire squad who once again showed that CCT hockey can compete with anyone in the nation.

The second game was a good one too ... made it back to the hotel just in time for the BC/NU men's game, thanks to a 3 OT game in the first HEA semifinal.

Honestly, I'm not shocked. I thought that despite being 40–0–0, BC was mostly untested. BC and Northeastern were good this year, but teams below them in Hockey East were substantially weaker. Colgate or Harvard probably would have made the NCAA tournament this year if they played in Hockey East. Minnesota two years ago, the team we beat, was probably stronger than BC this year (41–0–0 Minnesota from 2012–13 is unquestionably the strongest ever).

        • One of the things that many said about Clarkson is that we couldn't really compete for a national championship, except during an olympic year. I think these girls proved those folks wrong. Sadly, I think we actually matched up with Minny better than BC did. However, if the 2014 championship wasn't a big enough sign, I think everyone is now quite clear that Clarkson women's hockey is here to stay.

Not sure who 'many' is but as someone who has covered women's D1 hockey since first year NCAA was involved (2001) it is hardly rare for an area team to be a contender for national title in non-Olympic years. SLU went to five Frozen Fours and 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2007 were non-Olympic years. Clarkson making it that far this year was hardly a surprise. Only two 'Olympic' years we had a local team make it were SLU in 2006 (lost to Wisconsin and Meghan Duggan in semis) and this season.

                    • USA beat Canada 3-1 last evening. Coach Duggan registered 3 SOG but did not register any points. Howe and Rattray did not dress.

                      • JLR dressed in game 2 for Canada, an 8-1 win. Somehow though, she managed to be -1 in the 8-1 win. That's tough to do.

Pejzlova moved up to the 3rd line for the Czech Republic, registered 3 SOG and was +1 in their 3-1 win in game 2.

Coach Duggan, also -1 in the USA's 2-1 win over the Fins.

                          • Coach Duggan is leaving Clarkson to prepare for the 2018 Olympics. I always wondered how much longer she could keep up playing professionally, playing on the national team along with her coaching duties. Best of luck to her. I'm sure in her time here she really helped the team.
