This year is pretty much an anomaly too in the sense the NCAA has granted a fifth year. If a student athlete wanted a masters degree from somewhere else, this extra year gives them that ability to go and still play where in more normal times you play your four years, graduate, then go on to grad school and not play.

I probably wouldn’t read too much into graduate seniors transferring out. If younger players who aren’t typically scratches start transferring in great number, then I’d worry.

According to the Watertown paper Elizabeth's fiancé lives about 80 miles from Minn Duluth so she might want to play there.

A giant bummer, to say the least. In my estimation Giguere is probably the best player in Clarkson hockey history, men's or women's. I feel completely awful thinking about Giguere on another squad, and also eternally grateful to have seen her absolute dominance over the past four years. I hope she finds a happy landing place wherever she goes.

Elizabeth Giguere, the 2020 Patty Kazmaier Award winner, is entering the transfer portal as a grad transfer. She had 99 goals and 223 points in four years at Clarkson.
