Just got back from Princeton after staying on over knight. So what can be said. The event before hand was nicely done and well attended. Good food (the pulled chicken sliders were excellent) and one free drink. An excellent talk from our new President outlining his vision of Clarkson going forward. Even got to say a few words with him afterwards.
1) Princeton's 1st goal on the PP. Haider screened in front and never saw the shot from the top of the slot, over his right shoulder and into the top of the net. He never moved (other than getting the puck out of the net).
2) Princeton's 2nd goal CCT gets beat along the boards, the puck bounces around in the slot, CCT does not clear it and in a scrum in front the puck goes along the ice into the net, far post on Haider's left side just outside his outstretched left leg.
3) Princeton's 3rd goal I did not get a good view of what happened.
4) Princeton's 4th goal was an Alex Ovechkin special, Princeton controls the puck to Haider's left just above the circle and the guy whips the puck across ice to the other circle and the waiting Princeton forward unloads in one motion an Ovechkin Rocket that beats a sliding Haider into the net. That was one pretty goal.
5) 5th goal empty net and 6th goal a 2 on one, nice pass across the slot and another great shot that beats a sliding Parker
The game was a game when Princeton had a quality chance, they buried them. Clarkson had so many chances, Alex Campbell especially, that they either mishandled the puck, shot it wide or shot it directly into the goalie's mid section or pads. Third period especially we had a number of odd man rushes that we just did not capitalize on.Vicb

I couldn't tell the whole of Princeton's 3rd goal. For some reason, Casey called for a review. It sounded like it went off the crossbar and down and (I guess) into the net. Of the 4 goals Haider let in, none of them were well defended and quite frankly, I can't blame any of them on bad goaltending.
I too just completed the dreary ride back home and it actually matched up pretty well with my mood. It was nice to see a bunch of my college brothers and we pregamed at the little bar right up the hill from the arena. Nice craft beers and bar appetizers. We also met up with friends and family of DU's swimming and diving team that is apparently at a meet in Princeton this weekend. The hockey connection was clear as a lot of the DU families had heard of Clarkson.
Onto the game. I can't really say one good thing about the game. The offense couldn't complete a second pass the entire game. The power play was putrid and twice took interference penalties shortening the power plays. The penalty kill, well it wasn't bad but it did give up one goal. The defense was disjointed once again, getting both outhustled and out-strengthed (if that's a word) to loose pucks. Princeton isn't a terribly big team; there's no excuse for them to be constantly winning battles on the boards.
As vic said, we did have a number of odd-man rushes once we were down 3-0. Credit to Princeton that they kept pushing but maybe they were even taking too many risks. Clarkson just doesn't seem to know what to do when they have an advantage. If the pass is available, they can't make it. If the shot is available, they go for the pass. Callin had one opportunity right in front of me where he was free and open, all he had to do was elevate to a huge open corner the Princeton goaltender was leaving. He opted for the pass into traffic and Princeton skated away with the puck.
The rain has canceled my plans for this afternoon but after watching that game last night, I'm not going to make the trip to QU. I've seen a lot of Clarkson losses over the years but this was honestly the most embarrassing one I've witnessed live against a subpar team.

This might not be supported by data but it seems that Casey's teams are not usually prepared to play after a layoff, this one being just one week off, and Clarkson gets outplayed, sometimes embarrassingly like last night. When it was 4-0 I gave up and switched over to the SLU - Qpac game which was competitive, and then Harvard - Cornell which went to OT.
