  • Clarkson Women's Hockey 2023-2024

Time to look ahead to next season. We do not have the ECAC composite schedule at the moment, I will post it when it is avaliable.

Instead of going to the local men's games every year, I'm going to split between men's and women's games. I'll be at QU and Yale for the women and RPI and Union for the men. Can't wait for next year!

Assuming the majority of the seniors will return for a 5th year, lets look at freshmen. Only 4 recruits slated to come in next season. Shelby Laidlaw, Rebecca Morissette, Keira Hurry, & Taylor Storey. Laidlaw played for Team Canada in the world juniors and won gold. Out of all, Morissette & Storey have the highest points for their respective teams, averaging nearly a point per game with them. I think there is a lot in store for next season, with a skilled incoming class & not losing very many players whatsoever. Frenette & Petrie (if she returns) should be back from injury and will add depth to the lineup. Non-conference games will come as they will, should see some new teams this year with most deals likely up.

Markowski and Wisnewski have entered the portal.

Not surprised about Wisnewski - her minutes were down late in the year. Given how hot Markowski was at the end of the year, it would have been nice to keep her, but scholarship limits means Matt probably had to make some tough decisions when it came to the 5th year players.

OSU also signed two from BC. Wonder where they’re finding the scholarships

Interesting that national runner-up would have that many players who either wanted out, or who were deemed surplus and had scholarships taken away.

Probably some scholarship money is coming from the 5 kids from tOSU that are in the portal as well as some of the graduating seniors/grad students that used up their eligibility. So if there is any scholarship money available for players in the portal, who could Clarkson convince to come?

Rhea Hicks F of Syracuse has 3 years of eligibility. Made the CHA All Rookie Team. Home town is Etobicoke, Ont
Alexie Guay D from BC. 1 year left of eligibility. Home town is Magog, QC, CAN.

It is the reality of women's college hockey today especially in the big time schools (Wisconsin, Minny, tOSU etc). Produce and you get to keep the scholarship. If you don't, you are probably encouraged to seek playing time elsewhere.

After watching the women's championship game, and the manner that the OSU acted throughout the game (as well as when CU beat them a few years back), that might be the last place in the world I would want my daughter to play hockey. She may be a good coach, but what about the experiences of dealing with situations. She's a bonafide sour-puss. I do hope Ms. Markowski takes the class act that Matt shows and remembers that rather than what she'll encounter in Columbus.

On USCHO they refer to her as "The Muzinator" in the fan forum. A VERY intense coach.
